Artist's Comments

This is a preview of what was to be my animated slide-show/documentary about my trip to Puerto Rico in 2006. I had too many problems getting the sound set-up correctly and eventually I decided to scrap it until further notice, especially since Flash is such an outdated form of web presentation in this day and age of youtube.

Due to a deviant art policy regarding third party music, I am not allowed to show the original version with music by Led Zeppelin. If you like this, please see the the original at [link] since the piece really is musical in nature (the entire scene was dreamed up while listening to that song on my iPod while riding my bike).

Notice this is not a proper trailer so it doesn't really represent the entire package, instead it is a sneak-peak of the intro to a segment about Puerto Rican politics. Everything in the shot was made with vectors, except for a cloud JPEG I used in the 1 second switch between New York City and Puerto Rico.

The movie consisted of segments comprised of (sometimes animated) photography, illustrations and vector animations. It was to be presented in Flash format and the estimated running time should have been around twenty minutes.

This segment in particular deals with the assassination of Filiberto Ojeda Rios in 2005. It means to show American influence and how actions taking place overseas by elements of the United States government end up marring the overall image of the United States people.

Daily Deviation

Given 2007-07-09

I get the feeling that ~Kalapusa's full length documentry on Puerto Rico is going to have a lot of impact judging by what Turista Preview has to offer. The animation and attention to detail is at such a high level. (Suggested by `Nestalgica and Featured by ^Age2003)

Excellent flash.
Can't wait to see the final piece.
(do you plan on uploading the final bit or is this project for something else?)

I plan on releasing the entire movie during Fall of 2007 in flash form here, at newgrounds and at my future website.

Thanks for the kind comment. :)

You are ridiculously talented! Cant wait to see the final piece!

Just beautiful. One question, was the liberty statue throwing away her torch and shooting out the red and white beems rotoscoped? The smoothnes of that movement was very impressive.
:iconkalapusa:
Yes, it was. I filmed myself acting out the part dressed up with a blanket and used a kitty litter scooper as a torch. lol Then I integrated it into the Flash timeline and motion-tweened it every 5 frames, on average.

Thanks for the compliment. I might put up a behind the scenes later to show how embarrassing it looks. :P
